Add balance views over time group by a period

When you look at the balance over time views, you usually need to see how it has been changed by a period, for example what was the balance at the end of each shift for a month. But the current balance over time views shows all the changes to the balance as the movements happen, with no way to actually know what was the balance at the end of each shift if there was no movement on the shift change.
This is a common requirement that I even had for ACME and I end up to address it in custom reports by writing some SPs to calculates the balance at the end of each shift. Talison and Escondida also have similar requirement and since they are big projects these custom SPs are not performing good.
