[Enhancement Request]
Rio Tinto Iron Ore (Perth) is currently undertaking an internal review of their project configuration with preparation for an Ampla upgrade in 2020. They have also reached out to Global Practise (Ben Connolly and Chris Masters) for some work to review their project. They are hoping to remove quite a bit of their code items with the hope that they will be replaced by native Ampla functionality in 2020 - Matt G is aware of this via some previous email discussions. So, this is one of their enhancement requests which they hope may be included in the latest version in 2020, verbatim from Ben (below). Ben is happy to discuss this further with the product team.
"Our Ampla project configuration has a lot of custom configuration that is used to assist Ampla Engineers with BULK Configuration of Ampla project changes.
Note, a lot of this custom configuration was built by Schneider Professional services or people who were ex-Schneider.
I’ve attached an Excel with references to some of the Ampla code objects (x15 code objects) in the Rio Tinto ampla project.
You have a backup of our Project so will be able to reference these.
Business Impact
• These custom tools are not supported by AVEVA
• Without documentation the tools cannot be used by our staff who are new to Ampla
• These tools reference Ampla DLLs and could break during our v7 upgrade
• Engineering time to make BULK changes manually via Ampla Studio
• Engineering time to make BULK changes on our TEST environment and export / import to PROD environment
This requires an OUTAGE of 2-3 hours of the PROD environment
Enhancement Request is for:
• Bulk configuration changes to Relationship Matrix on Equipment
• Bulk configuration of Hierarchy
Please raise this as an enhancement with the Product Manager and let me know if this enhancement will be scheduled into the 2020 roadmap.
Note, Chris Masters mentioned he discussion with Ben Connolly regarding this one.
