Object Performance Index

Helping users understand the resource requirements

Most aspects of perfromance is dependent on the object's complexity, but there is no good way to measure that complexity. This is also required to help with the queuing mechanism described above, it will allow users to understand how long a check-in will take to complete.

  • The determination of an "Object Performance Index” (OPI), which may be used to estimate the time to check-in object hierarchies. Because the actual check-in time is also dependent on the horsepower of the GR node and how SQL Server is configured (temp-tablespace, log sizes and locations, etc.), the correlation between the OPI and a temporal factor is something the system can learn and auto-correct over time.

  • The OPI should track things like:

    • Number of atrtributes

    • Number Features/Extensions (IO/History/Alarm etc.)

    • Number of Scripts

    • Associated content

    • Wizards

  • We can also expose this to the user similar to the Graphic performance index
