Granular security for full hierarchy in OMI navigation

Consider the following scenario. There is a large galaxy with complex area hierarchy in geographically distributed system. There is an OMI app and it's navigation model is referencing the root area with Include Children option selected. If one is to specify Access Level or User Roles on the main level, the same configuration applies to the all other navigation levels in the hierarchy. It would be nice to have this configuration be additive on lower hierarchy levels ie to be able to add additonal levels or roles besides the one on the root level.

In a system like this, it is nice to have one OMI app that includes everything and can satisfy the need of both the field operators and the one in dispatch centers, but the field operator should be able to see only its field in the hierarchy, while the HQ operators should be able to see everything.

There are several workarounds for this, neither of which feels right:

  1. Replicate area hierarchy in OMI navigation model by hand without using Include Children option untli the last area level which lets you specify security on individual navigation node

  2. Create many navigation hierarchies from different areas with Include Children option selected and specify security on those.
