Add SQL-authentication to the 64-bit Excel Add-in

DESCRIPTION

Customer previously used the 32-bit version of HistClient Workbook, and is dissatisfied that the newer 64-bit Excel Add-in requires Windows Authentication without any alternative options (i.e. SQL Authentication).

CUSTOMER COMMENTS:
Having to use the logged in user for a connection to the data is not a good solution for a smaller company like ours. Having to have a corporate historian just to do this will work is more work in patching and paying for compute just for this server. Supporting more users in the OT domain when they cannot easily change their passwords is also a pain in the but.

What they want is an option to use SQL authentication so they can fill in the log on user and password manually like they used to have with the old 32-bit version.

The excel plugin is on the radar for improvements in CY2027. We are aiming to get to a single 64-bit plugin that keeps customers' IT departments happy, but also remain useful for the smaller customers. I would like to understand more about the current authentication workflow this customer has today, so that the new plugin will work. I will say however that we are under a mandate to ship secure by default which may mean some of the previous authentication options are no longer considered best practice.
