S7TCP support for firmware V3.0 with username and password

To increase security this option is available on the S7-1500 controller. Without a username and password anyone connected to the network can connect, browse and change values.

We have made good progress lately and I hope to be able to share more about the timeframe soon. Our ambition is that we simultaneously expand on the device support to include software, simulators, etc.

Rickard, ok thanks for the update. Implementing the secure communication is harder than expected, I guess? I have several customers asking for this secure S7TCP communication. Until now I could tell them somewhere in 2024. Do you have a timeframe for implementing this? New controllers all have this new firmware. Current solution isn't cybersecure. The OPCUA is an alternative. Have you also received customers asking for the S7TCP-driver to support variables from software units?

This is under consideration and will likely be picked up in a future version.

Until then, OPC UA is a secure alternative as well as the primary open alternative offered by Siemens. Yes, OPC UA is less performant than the native protocol but that is an issue I must refer to Siemens to address.
