We created this site to hear your enhancement ideas, suggestions and feedback about AVEVA products and services. All of the feedback you share here is monitored and reviewed by the AVEVA product managers.

DNP3 - "Listening mode"

The current version of DNPR or DNP3 driver always want's to initiate the start of communication with the device. There are some devices that work in an opposite direction (i.e. Metasphere DNP3 data loggers https://www.metasphere.co.uk/products/point-orange-3g). The device want's to initiate the start of communication.

The driver should be upgraded in this way that it would have also a listening mode (i.e. you could specify a TCP or UDP port on which driver would check if any requests come from device. This can be added in citect.ini).

If the device would come online and send a request to the master (in our case SCADA) the master would then start the communication and data exchange.
