Safety Points support for Connection/Remote records

Enbridge control room operators have requested that the safety points feature, currently available for telemetry points, to be extended to the connection and remote tables. The intent is to allow communication alarms to be flagged, for PLC or sites that are considered critical and hence of safety concerns.

There is also interest to have some control over System alarms to be configured as Safety-related as well.

Expectation

The ability to configure selected remotes and connections as "safety related" so that their alarms are teated as such in the HMI.

    What is it about the communications alarms that are safety related? If the points being polls from such a remote are themselves marked safety related, then any loss of connection, or flatline alarm will be marked as safety related.

    What is the situation that results in an alarm from a remote or connection without related telemetry alarms that indicates a safety situation?

    What action would the controller take when responding to a safety related alarm from the communications subsystem?
