I'm also struggling with so many bad UI decisions of IDE 2023 and 2023 R2.
First, who thought a "highlight" button should be of a darker shade than the UI color? Because now, everything is white, so now, any highlight is by definition darker, therefore, less "eye catching", less visible...
The absence of a color discriminator in the UI makes it difficult to identify the different type of objects and color-coded areas.
Some icons are simply counter-intuitive. The icons either don't make a link to the previous IDE designs, or they are new and sometimes plain misleading... I have been confused so many times seeing a padlock or a pen, thinking there was something wrong with my system...
I didn't like the 2023 UI and now 2023R2 adds even more confusion with those status icons deported at the end of the row (who thought it was a good idea to dump 3 different and unrelated statuses in a table at the end of each row??) now I am constantly scanning left-right to see if my objects are deployed and I have no idea which of my objects are deployed to not, because a dot (.) means "deployed" but an exclamation mark (!) means "undeployed"... it is so not obvious...
Does this idea include improvements to the scalability of IDE UI? For example, on screens using 125% resolution zoom or more from windows, there are areas of the IDE that do not scale well and can end up being unreachable unless resolution is reset. This includes the alarm and element styles back stage, trying to reach the "scripts" pane when configuration object wizard associations and likely more.
The previous design where the deployment, warning and error state was reflected on the object symbol was a lot more clear in my oppinion. We've been working with this version now for a couple of months are the design has not grown on us sadly.
You have provided guidelines for Situational Awareness for the SCADA design. Where is the SA when it comes to IDE design. It gives me immense eyestrain and headache just to navigate across the IDE.
